NFPA to Offer Seminars on NFPA 70E®, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace

NFPA will offer two-day seminars on electrical safety in the workplace that focus on compliance with OSHA 1910 for general industry and OSHA 1926 for construction. These NFPA seminars will be held on numerous dates and in widespread locations, including August 28-29 in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and September 11-12 in Charlotte, NC. 

NFPA to Offer National Electrical Code® Essentials Seminars 

NFPA will offer three-day seminars to explain the complexities of the National Electrical Code®. These NFPA seminars will be held on numerous dates and in widespread locations, including July 21-23 in Memphis, TN and San Antonio, TX; and August 11-13 in Omaha, NE and Rochester, NY.

 

NFPA to Offer Seminars on Articles 500-516 of the 2008 NEC®, Hazardous (Classified) Locations

NFPA will offer one-day seminars on Articles 500-516 of the 2008 NEC®, concerning locations, processes, and materials that pose a hazard of ignition from electrical sources. These NFPA seminars will be held on numerous dates and in widespread locations, including August 28 in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and September 11 in Charlotte, NC.

 

UL to Offer One-Day Workshop on Designing for Intrinsic Safety

UL will offer a comprehensive one-day workshop covering the latest requirements for intrinsically safe electrical products for hazardous locations (explosive atmospheres) applications. These UL seminars will be held on July 17 in San Jose, CA and September 25 in Northbrook, IL.

 

OSHA Begins Enforcing PPE Rule

Although the new rule states that employers are responsible to pay for almost all types of personal protective equipment (PPE) used on the job by their workers was published last fall with an effective date of February 13, 2008, OSHA began enforcing the rule on May 15. NFPA and IEEE Partner in Arc-Flash Initiative

The IEEE and the NFPA have joined forces in a multi-year initiative to fund and support research and testing in order to increase the understanding of arc flash. The results of this collaborative project will provide information that will be used to improve electrical safety standards, predict the hazards associated with arcing faults and accompanying arc blasts, and provide practical safeguards for employees in the workplace. 

FM Approvals Offers Hazardous Locations Seminars

FM Approvals offers two-day seminars on avoiding danger when employing electrical equipment in hazardous locations. These seminars are held in numerous dates and locations. The next seminar will be on December 8-9 aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. 

   

IAEI Offers Seminars on NEC® 08 Changes

The International Association of Electrical Inspectors will offer seminars on Analysis of Changes to the 2008 NEC® during 4-hour and 8-hour sessions. Seminar dates at IAEI headquarters in Richardson, TX include November 3. Other dates and formats are available.

 

NEMA Publishes ANSI_NEMA_ANSLG C78.377-2008

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), on behalf of the American National Standard Lighting Group (ANSLG), has published ANSI_NEMA_ANSLG C78.377-2008 American National Standard for Electric Lamps—Specifications for the Chromaticity of Solid State Lighting Products.
