Non–current-carrying metal parts of electrical equipment can be grounded via connection to conductive metal raceways that extend the ground connection from the point of direct grounding to the equipment. Metal raceways performing this function are defined as equipment grounding conductors (EGC) even when a wire type equipment grounding conductor is installed in the raceway with the circuit conductors.
